How to Measure Curtains and Slipcovers

H.VERSAILTEX Featured picks split into window panels, stretch slipcovers, bath mats, and tablecloths. Measure the opening or sofa first, then match titled lengths, panel counts, and cushion piece counts. This guide sticks to those titled facts—no made-up fabric weights.

1. Measure the window first

Note rod width and drop from rod to sill or floor. Match titled lengths such as 63" or 84" and panel counts (often 2 panels). Wider windows usually need both panels in a pair hung with overlap at the center.

Checklist

  • Drop measurement written down before you shop
  • Length on the title equals or exceeds your drop
  • Panel count matches how you hang the rod

2. Blackout vs light-filtering

Blackout and thermal parents aim at darker bedrooms; linen sheer and light-filtering parents keep more daylight for living rooms. Black-liner titles call out full room darkening when that is the goal.

When to choose

  • Sleep / media room → 100% blackout or black-liner panels
  • Soft daytime light → light-filtering linen-textured curtains
  • Airy accent → teal linen sheer 84" grommet panels

3. Hanging style

Grommet, back-tab, and rod-pocket language appears on titles. Match your rod diameter and whether you want rings, tabs, or a pocket sleeve.

4. Slipcovers need cushion counts

3-cushion, 4-piece, sectional L-shape, and individual seat covers are not interchangeable. Count seats and arms, then pick velvet stretch sectional covers, individual seat cushion covers, or 4-piece stretch sofa covers as titled.

5. Bath and table lines

Bath rug sets (contour + toilet mat) and linen tablecloth sizes (60x84 spill-proof, round 60" waterproof) sit apart from curtains. Measure vanity floor space or tabletop diameter before those parents.

Care notes

Follow wash labels on each slipcover or panel page. Stretch covers fit best after you tuck excess fabric into cushion seams; re-smooth after the first wash. Curtain length does not change in the wash the way stretch fabric can—remeasure drop if you hem later.
